Municipality of Prato
Prato is one of the largest Italian industrial districts and one of the most important textile and clothing production centres in the world. The Municipality of Prato has structured its participation in European projects as a modern and dynamic organisation focused on innovation, sustainability and social inclusion. The city of Prato cooperates with other European cities, universities, research centres and non-governmental organisations. This network of partnerships enables the exchange of best practices and the development of joint projects in various fields: environmental sustainability, technological innovation, circular economy, circular city planning and more.
Their role in SOLSTICE
Within SOLSTICE, Municipality of Prato is a pilot city that will implement a series of activities focusing on awareness raising for textile consumption, increasing the collecting rate and increasing the reusability, repairability and further repurposing. Prato is the leader of the task “Towards decreased and better consumption” that implements the textile waste prevention campaigns, consumer education, capsule wardrobes promotion, organisation of repair workshops, community events and gamification activities to encourage and reward citizens for their sustainable actions.
