Recyc'Elit

Recyc'Elit, french start-up created in 2019, has developed and patented a chemical recycling technology providing a solution for complex polyester-based textiles.
This is a depolymerization process that enables to recover:
On the one hand, a monomer of polyester, which, once purified, can be directly reused to obtain a recycled PET resin of virgin quality, compatible with an application in the textile sector and on the other hand, the co-materials (polyamide, elastane, cotton, etc.) separated and isolated in pure and undegraded form.

Also note, the Recyc’Elit’s process takes place under mild temperature and at atmospheric pressure, which would significantly reduce GHG emissions compared to landfilling.
At the beginning of 2025, Recyc'Elit will have a pre-industrial demonstrator capable of processing a minimum of 10 tons of waste per year.

Their role in SOLSTICE

Within SOLSTICE, Recyc'Elit propose a first set of target purity values to guide the sorting process, define the specifications.
They develop and assess of their chemical recycling process dedicated to PET (pure or blended) textile waste. They will depolymerize 100% PET products but also blends: PET/EL and PET/PA . They will first work on "pure materials" (cut offs) then on post-consumer waste. During the project, they will up-scale their process (with the help of inline analysis).
They provide data of their PET chemical recycling process for LCA's evaluation and techno-economic assessment.
Recyc'Elit will also contribute to the dissemination.
